Builers' Sales & Service Company was founded in 1958 by
Rupert Allen Pridemore. He grew the business and quickly
became the largest distributor of built-in appliances in Tarrant
County.
He was one of the most recognizable names in the industry and
was one of Fort Worth's most respected businessmen. Rupe was
known nationally by the major manufacturers for his
achievements. The manufacturers repeatedly presesented him
with "Top Distributor" awards and used his company as a model for
other similar distributors. He has strong ties with the
manufacturers, customers, and associates with whom he was involved.
Those knowing him best knew how much he loved his own company
and the Greater Fort Worth Builderr Association (GFWBA).
Tireless energy, effort and time was poured into both of these
endeavors.
The GFWBA elected Rupe countless times to serve as associate
vice presiden to chair various committees. His favorite even
was Associate Night. He always felt that the associates
represented a very important part of the association and wanted
them recognizes for their overall impact on its success.
Initially, the Builders Association used a "one-time-only"
presentation of the Associate of the Year Award, but Rupe was
recgnized three times. The association suprised him at the
Annual Ceremony of Excellence Awards Dinner in December 2002 by
presenting the first "Rupert Pridemore Associate of the Year
Award."
Having that award bear his name was certainly an honor that
touched his heart. Also, at the September 28, 2001, meeting
held at the Fort Worth Club, the Association suprised Rupe by
making him the first and only associate to ever become an Honorary
Life Director of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association.
These two unique tributes were both valued and cherished by hime.
